Could you introduce yourself shortly?
It's my pleasure to introduce myself… well, I'm Gokulakrishnan. I am working with MCA from November 2017 as a OBD calibration engineer consultant for Fiat Powertrain Industrial in Turin.
I have done my schooling in my home town, then i did my Diploma from PSG college and Bachelor Degree from Coimbatore Institute of Technology.
Coming to my work experience, I have around 9 years of experience in automotive engine calibration and testing. I was started my career at 2009 with Jayem Automotives limited located in India, later I moved to Landirenzo and then I switched to MCA.
I heard about MCA through linkedin website and I am very much interested to work with MCA. So I was applied through linkedin and I was contacted by MCA team and successfully I came into the MCA team.
Can you tell us about the project you are currently working on?
Currently I am working on Off-road engines OBD & Inducement calibration and testing activities. I have done so many activities to meet stage V and Tier 4b regulation on NEF & Curser heavy duty engines.
What do you enjoy most about this project, and what have you learned so far?
Since the OBD world was designed from what legislation says to protect environment from the emissions, there were new requirements and limitations in my project. Usually I like to do new things in my life, so I was enjoyed a lot and keep going. Since this is something new because during my previous experiences I was worked only for India OBD requirements, I have learned a lot about the worldwide legislation requirements.
Any advices for someone who would like to do the same career?
The peoples who would like to create a new world and who would like to do new things every day in their life, this career will be suitable for them. I am sure that they will be enjoyed a lot in their life.
What do you prefer about working with MCA?
Since I am new to Italy, I got great support from all MCA friends to survive here. I like so much to work with MCA, because the MCA colleagues are very supportive, helpful and understandable. MCA has arranged something like get together frequently to engage the peoples with everyone. Through this I got opportunity to meet and understand about other MCA colleagues. This will help us to share our technical ideas and to get knowledge about other projects that MCA is doing.
What brought you to work into OBD calibration ?
As I said, I am very much interested to work where I can create or define new things. Since OBD requirements are tightening their regulations every day, so I decided to work into the OBD world.
Could you describe a typical day at work?
Usually I start to work at 8.30 AM. I will have a look on tasks that has to be completed on short-term and long-term basis. Then I will have meeting that I have today. Later I plan the tasks for that day accordingly. Usually I will go for lunch about 1 PM. Usually around 6 PM I close my activities and I will back to home.
What would be the next step for you, career wise?
I need to be an expert in worldwide OBD regulation and designing the OBD activities.
What is your favorite professional memory?
When I was working in Jayem Automotives Ltd, Mr. RATAN TATA Chairmen of TATA group had visited and asked me about my activity. I was explained to him about my activities what I am doing on engine test bench. That was the nice memory that I will never forget in my life.
